Jamie Kime
Jamie Kime
Jamie Kime somehow succeeds in creating a new piece of music every time he touches the guitar. Never content to play any pre-written "licks" in his solos, he instead composes something fresh each night, which in turn keeps the band around him on their toes. His time playing with artists as varied as Zappa Plays Zappa, the Boneshakers, and Jewel has obviously served him well, as he can not only melt faces with his solos but also play a simple part with the perfect touch. Jamie's unique voice on guitar is an integral part of the sound of Gryphon Labs, both live and on record.
In 2009 Kime was awarded a Grammy award for his work with Zappa Plays Zappa, in the category of Best Rock Instrumental.
Jamie hates cilantro (the herb) with a passion, and teaches at the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles when he isn’t on the road with ZPZ.
